Causes of Headaches
The spinal bones in the neck and upper back can
lose their normal positioning. This loss of normal
positioning can cause headaches.
Treatment
A thorough examination can reveal loss of normal
spinal curve, reduced range of motion or other
physical restrictions. You chiropractor can design
a program, specifically for you, to alleviate
discomfort and correct the underlying causes
of your headaches.
For immediate, temporary relief from a headache
ice in a plastic bag wrapped in a small towel
can be placed on the back of the neck for approximately
15 minutes per hour. If the headache persists
for more than 24 hours call your chiropractor.
What Can You Do?
Sleep deprivation and oversleeping can both
contribute to headaches. Normalize your sleep
patterns
Exercise regularly
Take time to relax, breathe deeply, meditate.
Practice basic stress management techniques
Be aware of your diet. Certain foods can cause
headaches, or a certain amount of an offending
food. Eat regularly. Carry snacks to eat when
your body needs it.
If you are a smoker, quit. If you are a non-smoker
ask your friends, relatives and associates
not to smoke around you.
Drink one ounce of water every day for every
pound you weigh. |
